the actions of a few total fucking idiots. (which, WOW) still pales to the beauty and how much fun I had there.
Maybe buy a house in TN instead.

Asheville is nice but the rest of the state can go eat a dick.

This is the correct NC opinion to me too.
Actually going back to Asheville in September. It’s been a few years, so I’m excited to see what has changed.

You're mostly correct, but Wilmington is pretty cool too. It's basically beach Asheville.

All the local craft breweries have been bought out by national ones. That's about it.

The only part of Wilmington I really saw was the battleship

If this weren’t Oppo I wouldn’t even bother to engage, but since we generally listen better to each other than the rest of the internet:
Please don’t overgeneralize about an entire state population.

If you have concerns about NC politicians and segments of the population, I don’t think that you will escape that experience in TN.

Burial Brewing is still independent and quite good, I recommend it.

I’m not overgeneralizing. I’ve spent a good amount of time all over NC. I’ve seen the confederate monuments. I’ve seen the impact of your bathroom bill and the nasty attitude it emboldens people to take. Even if entire population aren’t backwards assholes, enough of them are that it’s blatantly visible.
Not to mention that it’s the goddamn lieutenant governor making so much of the troublesome news. Someone in a position like that sets the values that the populace follows. He might not speak for the state but it’s pretty damn close.

It seems that this is a lost effort, but I’ll point out one last thing: The bathroom bill was a response to large cities passing laws trying to be more inclusive, which illustrates that the state of North Carolina is quite split politically and culturally. The entire state population is not represented by the examples that you have given, and things continue to change. Just like the USA is not completely represented by whoever may be the current president or in control of the US house or senate. It feels as though you are making a caricature of a complex society.

Hey, Raleigh is nice!

Charlotte is better! Or at the very least livable...

Yeah, that’s a bummer to be sure. Isn’t Wedge still locally-owned, or did they get gobbled up too?
![]() 01/23/2020 at 20:22 |

Yeah if you got a big checkbook. Charlotte is so expensive but Raleigh is getting to be just as bad which is why I keep my apartment. Even when I lived in WI I kept this apartment because God knows how much it would cost now.

I really dont have many concerns about the politicians really. if plans work out the way I want them to, I’ll really dont be there during part of the summer anyways
